Extreme Planets

Grades: 4 through Adult      Running Time: 32 Minutes

Just over a decade ago there were no known planets orbiting sunlike stars outside our own solar system.  Since 1995, however, fast-paced developments in detection techniques have revealed hundreds of extrasolar planets--with the pace of discovery increasing all the time. Though it will be years before we have direct images of the surfaces of these worlds, this show gives us an idea of what they might look like - up close and personal!  In this original production we'll explore the idea of what "Earth-like" even means, and take an immersive journey to several worlds that may stretch the imagination, but aren't science fiction anymore.

Secret of the Cardboard Rocket

Grades: Pre-K through 3      Running time: 41 Minutes

Two children build a rocket from a cardboard box and plan to spend the night learning about the Solar System.  They are surprised when they blast off to space and are led to each of the planets by a talking astronomy book.  With each stop they learn basic facts about that planet.  This show is great for introducing children to the wonders of our Solar System.

Stars of the Pharaohs

Grades: 5 through Adult     Running time: 35 Minutes

The ancient Egyptians gave us the 24-hour day and the 365-day year, but they did not try like the ancient Greeks to explain in scientific terms how the sun, the planets and the stars moved, or even where they were. For them, the heavens were the realm of the gods. The sky embodied the balance between order and chaos, between death and rebirth. The god kings lived on Earth and then journeyed to the heavens to reign forever with the imperishable stars. The Pharaohs imagined that they could travel to the stars. Now five thousand years later, we’ve embarked on the first steps of a journey which may make that dream come true.  You'll learn about the connection the ancient Egyptians felt with the stars and various astronomical phenomena.

Life: A Cosmic Story

Grades: 5 through Adult     Running time: 25 Minutes

How did life on Earth begin? This tantalizing question forms the basis of this new show, narrated by two-time Academy Award winner Jodie Foster. Begin your journey by "shrinking" down to enter a single redwood leaf, and discover that all life on Earth shares a common ancestry. Then, travel through time to witness key events since the Big Bang that set the stage for life. Along the way, you will see two scenarios for the dawn of life on early Earth, and discover how our planet has changed since those microscopic beginnings.

Wonders of the Universe

Grades: 5 through Adult     Running time: 23 Minutes

Peer deep into space through the eyes of the orbiting Hubble Space Telescope and travel back billions of years in time to witness the birth of the universe. On this breathtaking excursion you'll witness the formation of galaxies and explore some of the most wondrous nebulae and astronomical structures yet discovered. As your travels continue, you'll fly deep into our own Milky Way galaxy and return home to Earth on a spectacular tour through the solar system.

Dynamic Earth

Grades: 4 through Adult     Running time: 24 Minutes

The award-winning show Dynamic Earth explores the inner workings of Earth's climate system.  With visualizations based on satellite monitoring data and advanced super computer simulations, this cutting-edge production follows a trail of energy that flows from the sun into the interlocking systems that shape our climate: the atmosphere, oceans and the biosphere.  Audiences will ride along on swirling ocean and wind currents, dive into the heart of a monster hurricane, come face-to-face with sharks and gigantic whales, and fly into rolling volcanos.

D-Day: Normandy 1944

Grades: 4 through Adult     Running time: 40 Minutes

The largest Allied operation of World War II began in Normandy, France. Yet, few know in detail exactly why and how, from the end of 1943 through August 1944, this region became the most important location in the world. Blending multiple cinematographic techniques, D-Day: Normandy 1944 brings this monumental event to the world's largest screens for the first time. Exploring history, military strategy, science, technology and human values, the film will educate and appeal to all. D-Day: Normandy 1944 not only educates all, but it pays tribute to those who gave their lives for our liberty…a duty of memory, a duty of gratitude.
